My name is Chase Harris, and I am a high school student in Scottsdale, Arizona.
One of my fellow classmates, Danielle Hudson, began her freshman year at SPA like every other student, happy to participate in a classical learning curriculum, playing sports and developing into one of tomorrow's leaders.
Late in the first semester, it was discovered that Danielle had developed a rare and unique form of brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a tumor that today remains in-operable.
This type of tumor is located in the brain stem, at the base of the brain. Affecting primarily children, it is the rarest and worst of pediatric brain tumors.
Today, Danielle is visiting with neuro-specialists at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in hopes of finding some resolution with this destructive cancer.
As part of both my student and family life, purposeful charity and providing assistance to those in need has been one of my personal foundation pillars. I recognize each day, how lucky I remain as a young adult in this challenging world without health or family issues that affect so many other children and members of my community.
I asked myself, is there something else that I could do to help Danielle and other worthwhile causes of meaning?
Prior to my 16th Birthday, I had the opportunity to restore my first car, a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe. Through this restoration project, I found that I have a deep passion for cars and something that I believe others will enjoy as well.
My idea was born: Classics for Causes
Each year, I hope to restore one classic car for a specific cause and auction that car off through the Barrett-Jackson Automobile Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona
Following the conclusion of the current auction, I hope to announce the next annual cause and classic car type.
I will be responsible for assembling the professional team to complete each restoration. This will include work certification, guarantees, etc.
I will complete each car through both cash donations and component donations for the selected classic car in association with the annual selected cause and the Phoenix Children's Hospital.
This years car is a 1967 Camaro.
All work will be completed in the highest quality and in the most professional manner.
The Annual Cause Contribution Goal: $200,000.00
100% of all proceeds will be for the direct benefit of the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation and brain tumor research.
Thank you to all the members of the community for your support in this important cause. On behalf of the Hudson family, my family, and too all of the children afflicted with this destructive tumor, I appreciate your support and confidence to find a cure for this challenging disease.
Thank you for all of the donations.
